Use a Membean Assessment Session

Choose an unfinished assessment, pick the right session mode, and understand exactly what opens, runs, or submits.

How it works

  1. Connect and load

    Link Membean and load unfinished assessments.

  2. Choose assessment

    Select the exact open assessment.

  3. Choose a mode

    Controlled View, Backend Only, or Answers Only.

  4. Start or schedule

    Open the session, run the backend, show answers, or save a schedule.

1. Connect and choose an assessment

Open Membean, select Assessment Session, connect the student account, and load assessments. Search the list when needed, then select one unfinished, unexpired assessment. The command panel shows its class, question count, due date, status, and progress.

2. Choose the session mode

  • Controlled View opens a dedicated owner-only assessment URL while the server keeps timing and submission state.
  • Backend Only prepares and runs the assessment on the server; you can leave the page after it starts.
  • Answers Only shows resolved answers with source labels and does not submit them. If the assessment has not started, loading answers can start it on Membean.

3. Set timing and target score

Controlled View and Backend Only expose submit timing and target score. Automatic timing is calculated from the number of questions. You can also choose 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or manual submission. Target score moves in 5% steps.

4. Start, resume, or schedule

  1. Choose Run now

    The main action changes to Open Assessment View, Start Backend Session, or Show Answers.

  2. Watch Recent activity

    The latest server job and local session events appear in the command panel.

  3. Resume a saved view

    A Controlled View can be verified against the server and reopened while its session is still active.

  4. Schedule when needed

    Schedule one assessment once, or process all open assessments on a recurring schedule in Backend Only mode.

Quick answers

Can I close a Controlled View?

Yes. The server submission remains active, and a saved view can be resumed after the dashboard verifies that the server session is still active.

Does Answers Only submit the assessment?

No. It displays resolved answers with source labels. The dashboard warns that loading answers can start an assessment that has not started yet.
